Sweet Falls
Sweet Falls is often overshadowed by its more famous counterparts, Elephant Falls and Bishop Falls, but it is equally mesmerising. Located about 5 kilometres from Happy Valley, this steep waterfall cascades down from a height of around 96 meters. The area around Sweet Falls is relatively undeveloped, giving it a raw and untouched charm. However, due to its slippery terrain and lack of safety measures, it's advisable to visit with caution.
Smit Village
For a glimpse into the traditional Khasi lifestyle, a visit to Smit Village is essential. This picturesque village is located about 16 kilometres from Shillong and offers a peaceful retreat from the city. The village is known for its well-preserved traditional architecture, with houses made of bamboo and thatch. Smit is also the cultural hub for the annual Nongkrem Dance Festival, where you can witness the rich cultural heritage of the Khasi tribe.
Wah Kaba Falls
A hidden gem in the vicinity of Shillong, Wah Kaba Falls is a lesser-known but stunning waterfall. The falls are located near Cherrapunji, which is about an hour’s drive from Shillong.
