Umiam Lake is an exotic artificial reservoir, circled by the striking emerald-green peaks of Shillong. Popularly known as Barapani Lake, this mesmerizing lake falls on the Guwahati-Shillong route. It is the largest lake in Meghalaya, spanning over an area of 220 sq. km. The development of the dam led to the creation of this lake.
